Clò Ostaig

Clò Ostaig is Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s imprint. The imprint began in the eighties: the first volume was published in 1981 (Ainmean-àiteachan, ed. Iain Taylor), which was followed in 1988 by a social history based in the Hebrides (Bùth Ailig by Dòmhnall Iain MacGilleathain, ISBN 0861527399).

In the nineties, four titles appeared: Trì Dealbhan Cluiche by Alasdair Caimbeul in 1990 (ISBN 0951641905); the proceedings of a conference in 1991 (Ceann an Iar-Thuath na h‑Alba, àrainn oighreachd Eòrpach: Co-labhairt aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Slèite, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach, 8–9 an t-Samhainn, 1990 = North-West Scotland, European heritage area: A conference at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Sleat, Isle of Skye, 8–9 November, 1990, ISBN 0951641913); An Stòr-dàta Briathrachais Gàidhlig (ISBN 1897873026) in 1993, the English–Gaelic dictionary that is now available online (http://www2.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gaidhlig/faclair/sbg/); and Plants, Fungi and Animals: Gaelic names with English & scientific equivalents mainly compiled from published literature (ISBN 1897873697) by Ellen I.  Garvie in 1999.

Only Plants, Fungi and Animals is still in print.

Clò Ostaig was resurrected in 2009 and has since produced a small, steady stream of titles.
